The IDAS employs industrial grade 386 family processor alongwith associated hardware interconnected on a ISA/EISA bus. The I/O sub-system follows a two tier approach which combines high density logic I/O boards and high quality field interface boards. The field interface include isolation, noise filter and per channel indication for digital inputs and outputs. The Analog input sub-system comprises of 12 bit A to D converter, Software programmable amplifier, and relay multiplexer with per channel low pass noise filter to make it ideally suitable for industrial applications.

The inputs and outputs of the IDAS are expandable from a small size of 16 AI, 24 DI, 12 DO to a gigantic 256 AI, 4096 DI and 480 DO depending on the application requirements. For large applications, the IDAS can also be configured as a distributed system with remote I/O units.

The CMU is built around standard hardware platforms such as Personal Computers and Work Stations. The CMU software is a state of art software, which runs on any Windows platform and provides powerful and user friendly GUI facilities. The CMU and IDAS communicates through international standard protocols.
